About

BC Arts News is a free service of ArtsBC, formerly the Assembly of BC Arts Councils. BC Arts News is a collection of the latest news stories from British Columbia’s arts, creative and cultural sector. The BC Arts News blog features brief previews with links to on-line articles, op-ed pieces, press releases, event or production information. News stories are from all geographic regions, genres and disciplines, professional and community based arts, as well as funding and cultural infrastructure news, information about emerging artists, advocacy and arts awards, and many other topics.

ArtsBC is not responsible for the content, accuracy or opinions expressed in external web sites. These web sites are not monitored or checked for accuracy or completeness by us and their inclusion on our site does not imply approval or endorsement of the linked web site by us.

ArtsBC is dedicated to connecting communities to promote and advance community arts and cultural development in British Columbia. Founded in 1979, its original purpose was to provide advocacy, leadership and support to community and regional arts councils in the province of British Columbia. Since then ArtsBC has broadened its vision and mandate to support the central role of arts and arts practices in building community and the unique ways in which arts and culture contribute to a strong, healthy society.

In partnership with the province’s community and regional arts councils, and other arts service organizations, agencies and individuals, we undertake this by providing advocacy, communications and networking, education, training and tools, support and resources.
